Ravichandran Ashwin’s popular YouTube channel, known for its sharp analysis and engaging cricket content, will no longer cover Chennai Super Kings’ remaining matches in IPL 2025. The update was confirmed by the channel’s admin on Monday, April 7. The decision comes just days after a controversy erupted when analyst Prasanna Agoram suggested that CSK didn’t need Noor Ahmad in their playing XI — a comment that stirred quite a bit of debate among fans.
Prasanna had pointed out that with spin stalwarts like Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja already in the CSK squad, the team could consider bringing in an extra batter instead of Afghanistan leg-spinner Noor Ahmad. However, the suggestion didn’t go down well with fans — especially since Noor is currently holding the Purple Cap. Many supporters felt dropping the tournament’s leading wicket-taker would be a big mistake, sparking a heated debate online.
The backlash was swift and intense following the remarks by former South African analyst Prasanna, who is also known to share a close rapport with Ashwin. In response to the controversy, the channel’s admin issued a statement on Monday, clarifying that Prasanna’s opinions are entirely his own and do not represent Ravichandran Ashwin’s views in any way.
“In light of the recent discussions and how things have been interpreted over the past week, we’ve decided to step back from covering CSK matches — including both previews and reviews — for the remainder of this season,” the admin of Ashwin’s channel shared in a note, emphasizing the need to be mindful and respectful of the ongoing conversations.
“We truly value the range of opinions shared on our platform and are committed to keeping the conversation respectful and aligned with the purpose we started with,” the channel’s admin added. “That said, the views expressed by our guests are entirely their own and do not reflect Ashwin’s personal stance.”
The controversy even caught the attention of CSK head coach Stephen Fleming following their loss to Delhi Capitals on Saturday. When asked about the comments made on the channel, a visibly irritated Fleming dismissed the issue outright.
“I have no idea,” he said. “I didn’t even know Ashwin had a YouTube channel, so I don’t follow that stuff. It’s irrelevant.”
